Poem

Sometimes I wonder what I actually believe.
Why does doubt cloud my mind?
Why am I so easily deceived?
God seems far, distant, out of touch.
Does He love me? If so, how much?
I have heard that He sent His Son
to fulfill a promise, to assure that it was done.
On Calvary’s cross Jesus chose to die.
He became low and left His place on high.
When the crowd’s shouts and jeers filled His ears,
He saw them as precious; still holding them dear.
Though they cost Him immense pain,
He saw the finished picture and counted it as gain.
I remember this truth when my feelings run wild.
My identity is found in being His child.
