From Wilderness to Promised Land

In the middle of nowhere I hear a voice.
It whispers words offering me a choice.
Will I choose the truth that matters?
Will I hope against hope even if it means I shatter?
My heart pumps harder and I run.
His words echo, but I shout I am done.
I plug my fingers into my ears.
I forget the faithfulness He has shown over the years.
In my wild state my mind wanders.
I enter a path covered in mistakes and blunders.
I forget my role as child of the King.
I give myself away for temporary things.
Labeled worthless and used by others,
I finally turn back to the arms of the Father.
He whispers of love and grace.
He lovingly wipes away the tears from my face.
I know I will hold onto things I wish could forget.
He tells me that His perfect love can drive away my fret.
He pulls me close and takes my hand.
We walk away from the wilderness and into the promised land.
